Samsung Galaxy Note 7

August 03, 2016 Android New Launch News Samsung

The Galaxy Note 7 was finally unveiled today in New York.

The Note 7's curved screens, 12-megapixel camera, expandable storage and water resistance coating actually brings it close in comparison to the S7 series than last year's Note 5.

Note 7

The 5.7inch display uses Samsung's familiar Super AMOLED screen technology at Quad HD (2560x1440) resolution, and that means is yet another phone with an industry-leading display. The RAM stays at a powerful 4GB RAM and processor is expected to be Snapdragon for US, China, possibly Japan, while the rest of world should get Samsung's faster Exynos processor.

Google's Android Nougat software isn't launching on the Note 7 when it hits later this year, but expect an upgrade somewhere down the line. For now, it runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

To help you understand better, below is a summary of the difference of Note 7 vs its predecessor Note 5:

  • Curved screens (sharper but less curved and more flat surface vs S7 Edge)
  • USB-C charger port (Samsung's first phone to adopt USB-C)
  • Iris scanner to unlock the phone with your eyes
  • Gorilla Glass 5 screen (he first phone with Corning's new stronger glass)
  • More sensitive, accurate S Pen stylus
  • Water proof with IP68 rating
  • Expandable storage with MicroSD card slot (Hoorah! like the S7 phones)
  • Larger battery (3,500 mAh versus Note 5's 3,000 mAh)
  • Better low-light camera
  • New S Pen tricks, like magnification and GIF-making
  • Stylus won't get stuck (if you accidentally put it in backwards)
  • Coral Blue color choice (very elegant and premium in our opinion)

The Note 7 provides a strong reason for you to upgrade, there are significant improvements in hardware and also software, mainly in terms of usabilty. The Note 7 is expect to be available (19th Aug) in USA and similar time launch in Asia. (20th Aug). Watch for its availability on Etoren!
